Here at Silver Star, we like to keep our customers in the loop about the important changes happening in the automotive world, especially when they can affect your driving experience.
There's some breaking news in our industry: As of January 1st of this year, a new Washington State law went into effect that significantly changes how brake pads are made. They must now contain less than 0.5% copper by weight, which is a big drop from the previous standard.
So, what does this actually mean for you?
Copper has always been a key ingredient in brake pads because it's great at reducing that annoying brake squeak and minimizing brake dust on your wheels. With much less copper, you might notice that newer brake pads are a bit noisier than what you're used to.
We wanted to give you a heads-up so if you hear a little extra noise after a brake service, you know why!
Please know that our team at Silver Star is all over this. We are committed to making sure your vehicle's brakes perform perfectly and safely. We're constantly researching and testing the best new products to help counteract any extra brake noise as we all journey through this change in our industry.
Your safety and satisfaction are always our top priorities.
